Here we go into 2016 with our eyes set high on building a profound future of life altering endeavors. Give me a break, I’m trying to start this blog with a little poetic flare. Can scientific writing having a poetic feel, maybe I’ll give it a shot this semester, but for now let me pontificate on what I see this year holds for me.
Since 2009 I’ve had my heart set on achieving a masters level education. Here I am at the University of Edinburgh working on that degree in a field I’ve been in since 2006 (Coaching: strength & conditioning, ice hockey, mountain biking, etc…). I must stay focused on the task at hand. Not looking back, not looking down, looking straight head at the path in front of me. Hold on, not too far head for I might miss a step. Missing a step now could prevent mean from achieving what I’m setting out to achieve. One step at a time, one goal at a time. Pacing myself. Making time for the big things and little things alike. Planning for success, for with no planning there will be no success.
I ended last year with optimism and excitement. I will live this year with optimistic determination. Smiling at the challenges and embracing them with a warm hug. Those embraces will be the lessons learned. This is going to be a great challenge. I’ve learned what’s expected of me, and I plan on delivering my very best.
I pledge to give 2016 my very best through optimistic determination.
